and, as a result, jazz super hero David Murray’s latest album sounds lovely!
Playing with his big, dark, sweet, nostalgic, major mode and bluesy sound, speaking jazz with his own personal vocabulary, occasionally taking off for his adventurous melodic altissimo flights, the jazz master knows how to combine effectively straight-ahead with modern jazz and, in that case, Jazz with Poetry. Paying homage to a music friend who passed away, he makes a well rounded, matured, emotionally charged and meaningful album, featuring actor/poet SAUL WILLIAMS and a stellar group that includes pianist ORRIN EVANS, bassist JARIBU SHAHID, drummer NASHEET WAITS and some more guests.
